A handsome solid oak writing table from Provence, finished on all sides so that it can float in a room, circa early 1800s. Rectangular, beveled edge top with three carved drawers across the front and carved frieze on the back. Raised on a pair of curved trestle legs resting on a plinth base joined by the classic "H" stretcher with iron supports. Features a rich, deep patina and a wonderful, antique character. This rustic table can be used as a writing table or desk, a library table, or as a console in a living room or dining room.
